Mr. Barney Morris, a board member for Moffitt Cancer Center’s Prostate Cancer Advisory Round Table and a member of the national Oncology Research Information Exchange Network (ORIEN) Patient Advisory Council where as a cancer survivor he frequently uses his public speaking skills to motivate young and old in the importance of ccancer preventative care.   He is the Chairman of 100 Black Men of Tampa Bay Inc’s Health and Wellness Committee.  Barney is an alumnus of the University of Georga, University of California Riverside, Air Force Squadron Officer School and Air Force Air Command and Staff College.  He is also a decorated retired Air Force Officer (Major), having served a combined total of twenty years between Active Duty and Reserve specializing in Information Systems / Communications and Information Assurance / IT Security.  Barney recently retired as an Assistant Inspector in Charge with the United States Postal Inspection Service.

Director of Church Partnerships and Community Outreach

Adrian Backus JD, MDiv, has more than thirty (30) years’ experience as an executive in educational and religious institutions, international assistance programs and industry.  Mr. Backus holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill; Juris Doctorate from Howard University School of Law, and Masters of Divinity, from Princeton Theological Seminary.  He currently serves as Director for Partnership Development and Outreach for the Prostate Health Education Network (PHEN). Additionally, He served for 15 years as Princeton Theological Seminary’s first, vice president for information technology, prior to that, as Director of Institutional Research and Strategic Planning, as well as, Assistant Director for Student Advisement. In 2003-2005, during his vice presidency, Adrian also served as, Interim pastor of St.

Paul Baptist Church, Montclair, New Jersey; with a focused ministry on congregational care and ministerial outreach.  In 2013 and 2015, for the CME Church Ninth Episcopal District Mid- Winter Councils, Mr. Backus lectured and led workshops on, estate planning and church giving.  From 2014-2016, Mr. Backus served as Assistant Dean for the Rutgers University higher education prison degree granting program in 9 prisons through-out New Jersey.

Adrian’s other experience includes serving as; general counsel for an information technology company and as, a U.S. Department of State diplomatic escort officer and country director in Rwanda and Senegal Africa, for Africare. Adrian is married for 41 years, to Abiola. Their children and grandchildren include, his daughter, Sikira, husband Sidiki; two grandsons, Cody and Maddox, and one grand daughter, Jocelyn Eliana; his son, Joel and grandson Jeremiah, and his daughter, Adria Joi.

Associate Pastor of Exaltation

Blane Joseph Newberry is a native of Philadelphia, married to the former Cathy Leigh Hill.  He was educated in the Philadelphia Parochial School System.  Reverend Newberry attended Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, North Carolina, earning a B.A. Degree in Sociology and Social Work, having been awarded a four-year athletic scholarship.  He earned a M.S. Degree in the Administration of Justice from Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania.  Reverend Newberry has matriculated at the Palmer Theological Seminary in Philadelphia.

Reverend Newberry has guided the development of youth in Philadelphia as a Juvenile Probation Officer, Gang Prevention Officer, and Recreation Leader.  Prior to accepting his call into full-time

Reverend Newberry attained a career in law enforcement for the U. S. District Court in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the U. S. Department of Justice as a Federal Probation and Parole Officer.   

 Additionally, Reverend Newberry is passionate in his pursuit of souls for the Kingdom and serves in the following capacities:     

 Certified pre-marital and marital counselor with Gilead’s Balm Counseling Ministry

      • Lecturer/Facilitator (discipleship classes, marriage retreats, church member assimilation,  community organizations, and organizational management)
      • Missions Educator  

 Since 2007, Reverend Newberry has traveled extensively to the continent of Africa, in fulfillment of the global missions call on his life, namely to Uganda and Kenya, East Africa, and Capetown, Johannesburg and Pretoria, South Africa.
