Prostate Cancer Early Detection Screening –
Understanding Today’s Needs and Meeting the Challenges
According to the American Cancer Society, there is a dramatic increase in the number of men being diagnosed with prostate cancer overall, and those diagnosed with later stage disease is escalating. Black men are experiencing the harshest impact from this crisis. There is an urgent need to address increasing early detection screening for this population. This session examined this need with a focus on the numbers, today’s screening guidelines for Black men, the potential impact of accelerating screening and the role of active surveillance.
